(Jeremiah 1:5) “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]...”

I was having a great conversation with a wonderful young brother today about predestination and the like, when this verse came to mind, coupled with a famous quote often attributed to Michelangelo: "Every block of stone contains a sculpture within it, and it is the sculptor's task to discover it and reveal the form already present within."

From birth until the time that GOD manages to break through our stubbornness and set us free, we spend all our natural lives, hardening our hearts (building or stealing armour to protect ourselves) in order to protect ourselves against trouble: "I won't let 'that' happen to me again!" or "I will never go down 'that' road again!" Etc.

But just like David who couldn't wear Saul's armour and instead, chose to rely on what GOD had given him to fight the giant Goliath (proven skill with a sling and stones), GOD wants to set us free from the stuff that 'we' have tried to protect ourselves with ... the stone prison 'we' have encased ourselves in!

Let's pray, "Heavenly Father, I accept that my life is not just rolling along all by itself. I acknowledge that there is a purpose for my existence, and I see now that Your loving hand is always present in my story, constantly breaking away all the stuff I've been carrying so You can set me free. Through Your Grace and the Holy Spirit, I will fulfil Your divine purpose for my life and restore any areas where the devil has interfered with my vision and dreams. Your incredible power will be renewed in me through the precious Name of Jesus Your Christ." Amen!
