(2 Timothy 2:5) "An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules."
I loved playing squash in my youth, and would play as much as three times a day if I could. The thing is, to enjoy anything, you must play by the given rules.
OK, so we learn (the hard way) that the devil doesn’t play by the rules - but GOD always does!
And if we believe that GOD ALWAYS has our BEST interests at heart, (and we therefore take His word seriously in Romans 8:28) "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Then we’ll believe He’s always watching over us and will never allow fear or harm to overcome us. And when fear is disbursed, then our hearts will rejoice in that NOTHING can separate us from the loving plans that GOD has for us in Christ Jesus! (Romans 8:38).
Anyway ... so, what are these Rules that GOD wants us to live by? I submit to you that they are the 10 Commandments. In fact, I’ve heard it preached that it was these very Rules that Jesus wrote with His finger on the ground when the scribes and the Pharisees wanted to stone the woman who had been caught in adultery (John 8:6).
It wasn’t just the memory of their sins that convicted them; they (the scribes and the Pharisees) must have surely SEEN what Jesus was writing in the dirt!

Let's pray, "Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that there is no neutral ground when it comes to your Son, Jesus Christ. I choose to be on his side, to gather with him, and to be actively involved in your Kingdom's work. Help me to resist the temptation to be apathetic or lukewarm in my faith. Empower me by your Holy Spirit to be a true disciple, not just in word, but in deed. Please guide me in discerning how I can best gather with you and avoid scattering your flock. May my actions and choices always reflect my commitment to you." Amen!
