(Philippians 2:5) "Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.”
There's a great scene in the Chosen where, after preaching to the crowds for most of the day, Jesus then begins ministering to thousands for the rest of the day and into most of the night.
While all this is going on, the camera focuses on some of the disciples sitting around a fire chatting, until we finally see Jesus as he staggers back to his tent, completely shattered.
(Philippians 3:17) "There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them... All they want is easy street. They hate Christ’s Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites. But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting for the arrival of the Saviour, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthly bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him."
Let's pray together, "Lord God Almighty, I read this through the new heart you've given me and can see that I need to live a life that walks the path that Jesus did. I ask for the Holy Spirit's guidance and strength because there are people following closely behind me, and I cannot lead with faithfulness, character, and compassion without the Spirit's Power and Grace transforming my life. Help me, Lord.” Amen!
