Philip said, “Master, show us the Father …”(John 14:8)
The story goes that Jesus walks past a church and sees a man sat on the steps outside with his head in his hands. “What’s wrong?” Asks Jesus. “They won’t let me in.” replies the man. “I totally understand,” says Jesus sighing as he sat down alongside him, “I’ve been trying to get into this place for many years, but they won’t let me in either!”
How many times have our desperate needs cried out for the release of Glory, rather than simply enjoying frothy coffee and well-designed snazzy programmes?
Wouldn’t we rather if our Church attendance was based upon the supernatural Joy of meeting with our Heavenly Father GOD as He manifests Himself in Jesus. Watching expectantly as He speaks to us by His Holy Spirit, encourages us, comforts us, heals us and edifies us by ministering to our needs?
My Pastor friend Les Mitchell told me that one Sunday, while he was watching 'the team' set everything up like a stage, the Holy Spirit came upon him. He told everyone to quit what they were doing, leave everything and sit down. He then picked one of the guitarists, and to the amazement of the worship team, he told him that he was the only one that would be required for worship that day ... Les told me later that "GOD met the expectations of everyone. He came to Church and ministered to His people!"
GOD doesn't need our help; He responds to the cries and needs of His people. Even under extremely intense persecution, the Church in Iran is growing. The Church in China is growing. The Church is even growing in North Korea! In fact, His Power and Glory is manifest ‘to’ His People and ‘in’ His People wherever He is called upon in faith.
Lord, open our eyes to how You want to minister Your redeeming love in 'Your' Churches.
