My daily reading brought back to mind a fundamental and pivotal conversation I had with my mother a few years before she got to go home ...
Me: Ciao Mamma, did you enjoy Christmas?
Mamma: You know, my son, this is my 87th Christmas, and I really did this year. The gifts were so special.
Me: Why, Mamma? What made it so different?
Mamma: Well, I did what I’ve always done. First, I read the cards. Then the small messages on the gifts. Then I opened the gifts, and then I thanked GOD for all those gifts and for the people that have blessed me. They were beautiful gifts for an 87-year-old woman. My great-grandson bought me a small doll – I tell you the truth, I have never had my own doll.
Me: Wow!? I never knew …!
(I then ask how everyone else is, and my mother asks me about certain things)
Mamma: My son, I’ve been thinking, whenever you mention (so and so), it hurts me.
Me: Oh, Mamma, don’t worry; I just need to get over how they are with me...
Mamma: My son, you know better than they do. If you don’t forgive them from your heart, you’ll be chained to them forever..!
“Later, Peter approached Jesus and said, “How many times do I have to forgive my fellow believer who keeps offending me? Seven times?” Jesus answered, “Not seven times, Peter, but seventy times seven times!” (Mat 18:21)
I hope that my messages to you this year have shown you GOD will use anything to set you free ... 2023 isn't just a number - it's a chance to open your heart, let GOD be the GOD of your life, and become a whole NEW YOU!
