I was once having lunch at my desk, and I’ll never forget the conversation I overheard between some of the young staff in the office describing life at home with their mothers.

“She was fair,” one said, “but ouch, was she strict!”

Another girl asked her to give an example. After a short while, she said, “I remember once calling my younger brother stupid! My mother jumped up from the table as if I’d used the ‘F’ word and, pointing to the door, demanded that I leave the room and told me that I was ‘grounded’ to my bedroom!”

The girl then went on to say that she was fuming with anger at this decision and told her Mother. “But I only called him stupid!”

Her mother retorted, “It’s not what you ‘said’ young lady - it’s what you meant by it!”

Imagine if we allowed the Holy Spirit to correct us in this way …? Wow!

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches.”
