Quite a few years ago I had the honour of accompanying my good friend Les Mitchell on a fact-finding trip to Madrid. To REMAR, the Spanish Church ignited by Miguel Diez of Worldwide Vision.

The day we arrived, we were encouraged to get into a convoy of vans following a travelling soup kitchen and after driving down a motorway for about half an hour we pulled off near some mountains onto some scrubland. It was late afternoon. Engines were turned off, a vehicle sounded its horn and we waited...

After the longest of times, shapes started coming down from the mountain shadows. I looked in horror, recognising men and women coming slowly towards us walking like zombies! Some were clothed in only scraps of rags, and some were quite naked and clothed only in the filth of their nightmares.

I felt that I had walked into Hell. This was Dante's inferno and I had quite honestly never seen anything like it before - people completely and totally possessed by the drugs they took.

As I watched in abject horror, men and women exited from the vans and started ministering to them. They brought bread, soup and clothing all wrapped in genuine love!

And the best part? These ministering Angels were themselves lost and insensible on this very mountain - and only a few weeks ago!

What has stayed with me after all these years is the powerful outworking of love that each of these men and women, addicts and outcasts have for each other!

I watched in awe that week as men and women were beautifully rehabilitated through the awesome restorative love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus, the Christ of GOD. Their exonerated personalities continually poured out how they truly were truly ‘diamonds in the rough!’

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches.”
