(Jesus speaking) “… You can’t serve both God and the Bank.

When the Pharisees, a money-obsessed bunch, heard him say these things, they rolled their eyes, dismissing him as hopelessly out of touch. So Jesus spoke to them: “You are masters at making yourselves look good in front of others, but God knows what’s behind the appearance. What society sees and calls monumental, God sees through and calls monstrous. (Luke‬ ‭16:10)

This is hard for most of us because we’re so used to dancing to the drum beat of lust for ‘things!’

We can couch and excuse them all away with the old chestnut: “but I ‘need’ it” – but in our hearts, we know that we’re just making excuses to the GOD who knows everything anyway.

How do we get away? Well, our ancestors knew - and they left us a 'how-to':

Turn you eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face; And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.
