Are you thriving - or surviving? Are you alive - or just hanging on?
Many years ago, just as my company looked like it was beginning to thrive (I employed 42 people and we turned over £1.2 million that year). I thought we were on target for a great future, but we suddenly lost everything!
How? Because the company we were serving suddenly died, leaving us with a debt of over £400,000. They couldn't pay us, which left me struggling to find money for our debts, including salaries for the staff for the month.
- Of course, I panicked ...!
- Of course, I prayed ...!
- Of course, I screamed ...!
- Of course, I panicked (again) ...!
- Of course, I prayed ...!
- Of course, I screamed ...!
- Of course, I panicked (again, and again, and again) ...!
- I ... I ... I .........!
I was consumed by worry and utterly exhausted, and reflecting on it now, I realise that 'I' was the one holding myself back.
Who has the answer to any of our problems but Jesus? But will we trust Him enough to drop our Plan B (or Plan C, D, E...), leave everything behind and go to a quiet place with Him and just be alone?

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me just how quickly 'things' can push You out of my life. Please help me to change my attitude and prioritise things which are of eternal value. Help me to recognise that keeping the eyes of my heart on You is the most critical thing in life." Amen!
