- 2. Prayer: Through personal communication and reflection with GOD.
Aim: Over time, many of us will share experiences of feeling that we have received messages from GOD through prayer. These encounters will often involve a sense of calm, insight, excitement, as well as responses to our inquiries and needs. As I’ve grown older in Christ, I've come to see that prayer revolves around confession, petition, thanksgiving, and praise. It's an incredibly important occasion of personal, intimate conversation with GOD, deepening our spiritual connection over time.
Example 1 - "When my children were teenagers and started driving cars, it was natural to worry about them. One evening, one of them was travelling quite a distance and was expected home by 8 PM. This was a time without mobiles or Sat Nav, just a map. 9:30 rolled around, and they still weren't home. I prayed and tried to stay calm, but my mind wandered to all the things that could have gone wrong. I desperately clung to my faith, reminding myself that God was watching over them. By 10:30, they still hadn't returned. I reached out to the Lord in panic, and suddenly, I felt a quiet nudge telling me to go stand by the window and wait for 5 minutes. I stood at the window speechless, and sure enough, 5 minutes later, they pulled up safely. I felt immense relief and gratitude, mixed with a reminder to trust Him more. That experience continues to strengthen my faith; true faith is only proven when you let go." (John Smith)
Example 2 - "Many years ago, I received an urgent call from a friend working in France who was very agitated and fearful because the previous night he had been attacked by the enemy and was in fear for his life. At the time, it wasn’t common to just hop on a plane. I felt strongly that I should go and help him, so I sought guidance from our church pastor, who advised me to pray and ask the Lord for confirmation. Later that day, my wife called me at work to say that when she opened the daily newspaper, there was a full-page travel advertisement with the words in large capitals: "JOHN SMITH GO TO PARIS." Remembering this still makes my heart race! I caught the next flight, met my friend, and we prayed until he was set free and able to continue his contract. The Lord took care of everything. God can use anything to communicate with us—even a copy of The Sun Newspaper!"
