(John 14:12) [Jesus speaking] “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”
This cannot just mean that we should merely 'believe in the existence of Jesus!' Scripture tells us that, “Even the demons believe—and shudder! (James 2:19)
Furthermore, if the name of Jesus were indeed simply a "magic name," wouldn't you agree that everyone—both good and bad—would be "living the good life," "experiencing luxury," or "enjoying a life of ease?"
With that in mind, I want to remind you of something the Lord revealed to me, which I shared with you some time ago: “How can you expect me to bless a path for you that I have not chosen? A path that will ultimately lead to your harm or the harm of others!"
So, as our life here is all about choices (and only the Lord knows the outcome of every choice and decision), then isn’t it best that we obey and humbly follow Him?
NB - If we love Him, then we’ll obey Him (John 14:15) and drop our (ill-fitting and impractical) yoke and instead carry our cross, because Jesus tells us clearly that "Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:27).

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, You alone know my heart. You know that I love You and I want to show that love through my obedience to Your commandments. Please give me the strength and wisdom to understand and keep Your Word, not just in my words but in my actions. Help me to consistently live a life that honours You and reflects Your love to the world. May Your Holy Spirit guide me and empower me to walk in Your Grace." Amen!
