(1 Corinthians 6:19) "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]?"
At first, I thought I'd obtained God's Mercy just because...!
But then, my lightning-fast brain started to put together that there is a recurring theme in Scripture that "giving, not getting, is the way", especially as it emphasises generosity and selfless service as being central to a Christian life.
Working through love, this idea surpasses all others and is supported by numerous passages that emphasise the blessings of generosity and the harmful effects of selfishness, especially when physical scarcity is regarded as a limitation, as shown in Scripture. For example, consider the miracle of feeding 5,000 people with just five loaves and two fish.
(Matthew 10:8) "... Freely you have received, freely give."
(Luke 6:38) Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over [with no space left for more]. For with the standard of measurement you use [when you do good to others], it will be measured to you in return.”

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, I am truly grateful for all that You have given me. Thank you for opening up my eyes and my heart to be a generous giver, both with my resources and with my love and compassion. I ask that you bless others through me with a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. I trust that as I give, I will receive from you, and that you will provide for all my needs. May my giving be an act of worship and a reflection of your love." Amen!
