(2 Corinthians 5:7) “For we walk [live] by faith, not by sight.”
SERIES 7: WALKING WITH JESUS - 1. Walking by Faith (Trusting God's promises when circumstances make no sense.
Faith is easy when we can see where God is taking us. The difficult part comes when we cannot.
There will be times when you pray, and nothing seems to change. When the door you expected God to open remains firmly closed. When circumstances appear to contradict His promises. When you cannot understand what He is doing—or why He is allowing something to happen. That is where faith becomes more than a belief.
Faith says, “I don't understand this, but because I love Him, I still trust Him.”
Walking by faith does not mean pretending everything is fine. It does not mean ignoring reality or refusing to acknowledge fear, disappointment or uncertainty. It means refusing to let what you can see become more trustworthy than what God has said.
- Abraham walked by faith when God told him to leave his homeland without showing him the destination.
- Peter stepped out of the boat because Jesus said, “Come.”
- The disciples followed Jesus even when they did not understand where the journey would lead.
And we are called to do the same...
Sometimes God gives us enough light for the next step, but not enough to see the whole road. We would prefer a map. God gives us just a promise. That is where trust begins.
Faith says:
- God is still good when circumstances are not
- God is still faithful when I cannot see His faithfulness
- God is still working when I cannot see what He is doing
- And I can take the next step because I know the One who is leading me
Perhaps today you are facing something that makes no sense. You don't need to understand everything before you obey God. You don't need to see the destination before taking the next step. Jesus has not asked you to see the whole road. He has simply asked you to walk with Him.
What does walking by faith look like? It may simply mean trusting God with the thing you cannot control. Obeying Him in the thing you already know you should do. Refusing to allow today's circumstances to determine what you believe about tomorrow.
Faith doesn't require sight. It requires us to trust in the One who sees.

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, how many times have I missed the mark by becoming afraid, letting go of Your hand and running away... How many times have You forgiven me and then gently led me back through ... Thank You for Your Faithfulness. I love You Lord." Amen!
