Since we have this confidence, we can also have great boldness before him, for if we ask anything agreeable to his will, he will hear us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have obtained the requests we ask of him. (1 John 5:14)

Just chatting with people lately in various stages of need, I can see that we are all constantly plagued with doubts - some of us wondering if GOD even hears our prayers!

I can testify that GOD certainly does answer our prayers - but because life isn't a scripted Disney production, He may not always do it in the way 'we' would like.

I've found that when there's doubt, it's best to encourage myself with what Scripture says. When it comes to prayer Jesus tells us plainly, "Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing. You’re at least decent to your own children. So don’t you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better? (Mat 7:7)

If you’ve received Him into your heart, this truth will ring true with you, and you can gain strength from all His Promises, especially this one: “I will never leave you alone, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!” (Heb 13:5)
