Yesterday's readings highlighted how crucial the Holy Spirit is in our spiritual journey. Let's dive into teachings that connect and confirm Jesus' message and bring His wisdom into our daily lives. I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences—let's explore this path together and see where the Spirit guides us! Here’s today's theme for us to check out...
"I don't hear Him..." Difficulty discerning the Holy Spirit's voice amidst daily thoughts and emotions.
First of all, this is not uncommon! Most of us will struggle to hear the Holy Spirit at some point. Here are just a few reasons why:
- Distractions: If you're easily distracted, then the noisy demands of daily life can drown out the subtle voice of the Spirit. (Determinedly set aside dedicated quiet time each day for prayer and reflection, allowing you to tune into the Spirit's gentle voice amidst the noise of daily life).
- Lack of Quiet Time: Without you making dedicated time for prayer and communication, it's going to be challenging to discern spiritual guidance. (See first point).
- Unconfessed/ Repetitive Sin: Sometimes we prioritise sin over our relationship with GOD. But repeating those actions will block us from knowing the Spirit's presence. (Bring it all into the open and watch how beautifully GOD handles it and sets you free)!
- Doubt or Unbelief: A lack of faith in the Spirit's ability to communicate, or the direction He is giving, will hinder receptivity. (Build trust in the Spirit by spending time in prayer and by seeking guidance, enhancing your openness to His leading and direction).
- Lack of Scriptural Knowledge: If you don't read or understand the Bible, you'll struggle to recognise the Spirit’s voice. (Make time to read and seek out a Church to help you understand - GOD will direct you).
- Emotional Turmoil: Stress and anxiety can cloud spiritual perception. (Seek guidance from your church leaders/ disciplers to gain clarity and enhance your spiritual perception).
- Expectations: Expecting the Spirit to speak or act in a specific way will cause believers to overlook His subtle guidance. (Proverbs 3:5-6 says: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.)"
- Spiritual Immaturity: Newer believers may not yet recognise the nuances of the Spirit’s Voice. They will need discipling. (Seek guidance from your church leaders/ disciplers to gain clarity and enhance your spiritual perception).
- Resistance to Change: Fear of what the Spirit might ask can lead to avoidance. (Start by taking small steps outside your comfort zone and seeking support from your church or disciplers to build confidence in facing new directions).
- Community Isolation: Being disconnected from a faith community can limit opportunities for spiritual encouragement and discernment. (If you can't actively join local faith groups or their church activities, then try to engage in online faith communities to foster connections, receive encouragement, and enhance spiritual growth. Pray and let the Spirit lead, though)!
In moments when we feel lost or isolated, let's passionately embrace Jesus' guidance: ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK. By doing so, we're promised the clarity and direction we need. (Matthew 7:7)

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, I come before You with an open heart, asking for the guidance of Your Holy Spirit. I seek Your wisdom in my life and knock on the door of understanding. Please lead me in Your ways and fill me with Your presence. Guide my thoughts and actions so that I may follow Your will." Amen!
