“... which commandment is the greatest of all?”

Jesus answered him, “The most important of all the commandments is this: ‘The Lord Yahweh, our God, is one!’ You are to love the Lord Yahweh, your God, with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, with every thought that is within you, and with all your strength. This is the great and supreme commandment.

And the second is this: ‘You must love your neighbour in the same way you love yourself.’ You will never find a greater commandment than these.” (‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:28)

We measure ourselves on not killing, or stealing, or committing adultery, etc., but here – in plain sight – is the most important! Loving our Heavenly Father with every passion of our heart, with all the energy of our being, with every thought that is within us, with all our strength!

The point is, we all know ourselves far too well to know that without the Holy Spirit’s help, we can ‘never’ fulfil the most important of all the commandments (much less the second), in fact when we're tempted, we fall on pretty much all of GOD’s commands.

So we bow our heads and pray …

Heavenly Father, we lay down all our pathetic attempts to be good and acknowledge our need of You and Your help. We want to come into your Presence through the door that Jesus bought for us by the sacrifice of his death and shed blood and choose to allow your Holy Spirit to fill our lives so that He will guide all our paths into your real Life.

Amen.
