(James 1:19) "Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger."

Part 4: RECURRING TACTICS THE TEMPTER USES — 8. Fostering impatience and irritability (intentionally provoking minor frustrations so the person becomes short-tempered, less affectionate, or resentful)

Haven’t you ever noticed how impatience sneaks into the small moments and hardens us—sharp words at the breakfast table, a closed stare when plans go wrong, a quick resentment that lingers…

These little failures of love don’t feel dramatic, but they erode relationships and make faith look graceless. Instead of responding with kindness, we react with irritation; instead of listening, we hurry to fix or dismiss. If impatience is winning, ask God to soften your heart, to help you slow down, and to help you choose gentleness even in the tiny annoyances. So...:

  • Pause before replying and take three (or more) deep breaths when you feel irritated.
  • Name the trigger out loud (“I’m feeling rushed/ upset/ stressed”) so it doesn’t run you unconsciously.
  • Practice a small kindness when you feel annoyed (a gentle word, a helping hand).
  • Confess quickly and repair relational slights instead of letting them fester.
  • Pray a brief breath prayer in tense moments (e.g., “Lord, give me patience - now please...”).

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, once again, I read this and am convicted of my own failings. I want to return to what You created me to be, 'uncomplicated and child-like'." Amen!
