(Matthew 14:28) Peter, suddenly bold, said, “Master, if it’s really you, call me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come ahead.” Jumping out of the boat, Peter walked on the water to Jesus. But when he looked down at the waves churning beneath his feet, he lost his nerve and started to sink. He cried, “Master, save me!” Jesus didn’t hesitate. He reached down and grabbed his hand. Then he said, “Faint-heart, what got into you?”
There are so many paradigms we could look through in just these few words alone, but I’m going to focus on: “Master, save me!” Jesus didn’t hesitate. He reached down and grabbed his hand.
Why only this one? Because that's where the reality of who we are and who He is often clash!
In other words, it's where the ideals we've placed upon ourselves meet the actual, frequently messy, reality.
We want to appear spiritual, whereas we all NEED a Saviour.
It's like the old song says: "Trust and obey, there's no other way, To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey."
Let's pray: "Father God, I believe that you are with me in every storm. Help me to fix my eyes on you and trust that you will guide me safely through. Just as you called Peter to walk on water, call me to step out in faith and experience your power in my life." Amen!
