(Matthew 1:21) "... you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
If we use the definition of ‘sin’ as wanting to aim for a target, and yet missing. Then it goes a long way to explain an awful lot of all the resolutions we’ve ever made and yet never accomplished.
“I’ll love you forever!”
“I PROMISE that I’ll NEVER do that again!”
“I’ll NEVER go back to that …!
“I’ll do my best to stop the drinking/ smoking/ lying/ cheating/ the drugs/ the porn/ …!”
The thing is, a fish caught on a line CANNOT get free in its own strength! It is fighting a power much greater than itself. Even if the line gets broken, the hook stays in!
So, who can save us from our ‘sins’?
Only One Who has the Power to both (a) 'arrest' the pull of the line, and then (b) Reverse the pull to extract the hook!
And who knows us and LOVES us enough to want to do that?

Let's pray: "Dear Lord, just as you stretched out your hand and touched the leper, I come to you today with faith and trust in your Grace and Healing power. Touch me, Lord." Amen.
