(Luke 21:29) [Jesus speaking] “Look at a fig tree. Any tree for that matter. When the leaves begin to show, one look tells you that summer is right around the corner. The same here—when you see these things happen, you know God’s kingdom is about here.
Don’t brush this off: I’m not just saying this for some future generation, but for this one, too—these things will happen. Sky and earth will wear out; my words won’t wear out."
"When you see 'these things' happen ...!" What things? If you read Luke 21, you'll see that Jesus warns us about terrible manifestations of terror.
However, Jesus is telling us that whenever negative things assail us, God’s Kingdom Power likewise appears, enabling us to pray into the positive, just as it did for Him!
How else will we ever perform his word ‘greater things will you do …?’ (John 14:12)
Let's pray, "Holy Father, I know that praying "in Jesus' Name" doesn't mean simply adding a magic phrase to the end of a prayer to make it work. I know that it rather involves praying according to Your will, in a way that reflects Your character and saving Power. Father, I want my prayers to honour You so that You may be glorified in the Son You Love (John 14:13). Help me to honour You through works and prayers You task me to do." Amen!
