Why is this so hard!? (I'm sure that today's word is purely for me!)
(Matthew 6:14) [Jesus speaking] "For if you forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and wilful sins], your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others ...
[nurturing your hurt and anger with the result that it interferes with your relationship with God],
... then your Father will not forgive your trespasses.
Let's pray, "Lord, please help me to let go of all resentment and any desire for retribution. I know that it's alright to acknowledge the hurt, but I'm not supposed to dwell on it. By letting go and giving it to You, I can move on to a new, healthier relationship, either with the offender (or, if You decide, apart from them). I know it's a choice, not a feeling, and it's motivated by the understanding that You have unconditionally forgiven me! Amen!
