Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for? (Matt 16:24).
Many of us will come to this Scripture and (because we think we 'know' it off by heart) will skim-read it (for Holiness' sake) and maybe add a knowing smile too—just for luck (and I use that word advisedly)!
But look what happens when we break down Jesus's words...
- Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am.

Our Heavenly Father says: “Child of mine, how are you with your children? Don’t you have set boundaries for them too? Trust my Holy Spirit, and let Him help you …!”
Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11)
