(Ephesians 4:30) “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."

Keeping on with the theme of 'not grieving the Holy Spirit', here's Part 2.

SINS OF OMISSION: James 4:17 tells us clearly, "It is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it." This highlights how willingly sinning often stems from a lack of reverence for GOD. For instance, if the Holy Spirit prompts you to speak to someone but you hold back out of fear of judgment or criticism, that's clearly the "fear of man." Obeying the Holy Spirit means being ready to face misunderstanding and, at times, to offend religious norms. Walking with the Spirit requires being a disruptor, not always fitting in or finding your place.
Consider if the Holy Spirit urges you to help someone financially or to donate to a charity or ministry, but you hesitate, either out of fear of loss (greed), thinking, "maybe later." Or perhaps you're called to prophesy, pray for the sick, or use a spiritual gift, but you're held back by fear. Maybe you're nudged to share the Gospel with loved ones, yet worry about their reactions. Or perhaps you're prompted to apologise to someone you hurt - but pride stops you.
The more you don’t do what He tells you, the longer you delay, then the harder it will become to hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit. As you delay, as you wait, as you stand there frozen in fear of the consequences, as you stand there demanding your own preferences, demanding that you retain the comforts of the current lifestyle you have, then little by little, the influence of the precious Holy Spirit is being diminished in your life!

In 1 Thessalonians 5:19, it says, "Do not stifle the Holy Spirit." The term "stifle" evokes the idea of extinguishing a flame, suggesting that we can diminish the Holy Spirit's influence in our lives - like putting out a fire!

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, thank You for the Gift of the Holy Spirit in my life. Help me to remain open and receptive to His guidance and presence. May I never stifle His influence but instead fan the flame of His work within me. Guide my actions, thoughts, and decisions so that I may align with Your will. Help me to be sensitive to the Spirit's promptings, reject my flesh, and walk faithfully in Your path." Amen!
