(2 Timothy 2:21) "...Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things [which are dishonourable—disobedient, sinful], he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and], useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
I need to understand (and accept) that the purpose of my life should be determined by GOD, and not by my own desires. If I truly love Him, then (like a child) I will trust Him to work His Divine Will through me—this means being a vessel that answers someone else's prayer, meeting their needs and helping their hopes come to fruition—whether through direct intervention or merely by being a positive and supportive presence in their life.
Self-pity originates from the devil, and as long as I fear the pain of vulnerability, and give in to it, then I won't be able to be used by GOD for His purposes in the world, and He won't be able to guide me. I will remain in his permissive will and not his perfect will.
All He asks (all He ever asks) is for my unwavering faith in Him and His goodness—He never expects to hear me squeal, 'Lord, I really don't think this is a good idea....'!
The thing is, when I give over my rights to myself and stop trying to be my own god (and by definition control my life), I will automatically become ‘child-like’ and cease to dictate my wants to GOD.
That is the point when I will know that He's freed me.

Let's pray, "Dear Lord, I pray that you help me to purge myself from all that is impure and unworthy in your sight. May I become a vessel for honour, sanctified and suitable for your use. Prepare me for every good work that you have planned for me, and help me to fulfil your purpose in my life. Thank you for your grace and mercy, and for the privilege of serving you." Amen!
