(Jesus speaking) “Simon, stay on your toes. Satan has tried his best to separate all of you from me, like chaff from wheat. Simon, I’ve prayed for you in particular that you not give in or give out. When you have come through the time of testing, turn to your companions and give them a fresh start.” (Luke‬ ‭22:31)

Reading this made me wonder if the rest of the disciples wouldn’t have ultimately judged Simon completely unfit for his future role if they hadn’t heard Jesus openly encouraging Simon beforehand.

Can’t we likewise appreciate that rather than judge them, people are maybe going through their ‘time of testing‘ too and the measure of grace we show them will be what we ourselves receive at some point…? X
