Take a good look at my trouble, and help me— I haven’t forgotten your revelation. Take my side and get me out of this; give me back my life, just as you promised. “Salvation” is only gibberish to the wicked because they’ve never looked it up in your dictionary. Your mercies, GOD, run into the billions; following your guidelines, revive me. My antagonists are too many to count, but I don’t swerve from the directions you gave. I took one look at the quitters and was filled with loathing; they walked away from your promises so casually! Take note of how I love what you tell me; out of your life of love, prolong my life. Your words all add up to the sum total: Truth. Your righteous decisions are eternal. (Psalm‬ ‭119:153) We’ve had a yukky time of la la recently. Biopsies at Hospital, family ‘issues’, friend’s losing jobs, sickness and pain in the church, even ovens and hob’s that decide to ‘give up the ghost’ right when we come home to eat, and … and … and…! I say all this not to whinge, but to encourage you, because as my wife and I sat back yesterday evening she said: “I got thinking… we’ve not had a surreal few weeks, but some supernatural weeks!” She went on, “God’s been with us reviving all that’s happening around us, everything that we’ve been concerned about – look at all these answers to prayer!” We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose … all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross. (Col 1:18). X
