Victory over the Darkness
In my (relatively short) existence here on this Earth, I have come to learn that ‘fear’ is our (only?) enemy! Let me explain …
In the beginning Adam and Eve were together with God. They were happy, content, at peace … even though they were ‘uncovered’ (naked). As soon as sin entered into the equation, their lives turned upside down … Sin (fear) came into their hearts and so they: * Ran from God * Confusion entered their lives. * Instead of running to the only one who could help them (their Maker), they reversed direction and ‘hid’ from the very One who could help them * Became aware of their vulnerability (their nakedness) * They sought to clothe themselves * They lost their innocence (their focus) and now that their eyes were ‘opened’ (just like the Serpent said) they became ‘aware’ of all the ‘potential’ dangers around them … Gen 3:4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” * Started to manifest the ‘fruit’ of fear * I was naked so I hid … i.e. * YOU (God) haven’t done a good job with me! * I can’t believe that You just left me here – naked and vulnerable – with all these dangers around me * Anyway, now that I’ve established that NOTHING is MY fault – then I just want to point out that it was the womans fault … The woman ‘YOU’ gave me!!! * And she quickly responds with “it wasn’t MY fault but the serpent’s fault …”
Thank God for the fact that He doesn’t leave us as orphans eh? 1 John 4:18 tells us “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love”.
There is a book called Victory over the Darkness, by Neil T. Anderson: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0830725644/002-4051559-3811226?v=glance&n=283155 – trust me and get hold of a copy. God used it to set me free and I believe it will help you to see the light too.
Remember that ‘we’ are (all) like coffee percolators to Him … Every now and again God comes with His finger and stirs us up – bringing all the ground coffee to the surface – He doesn’t want all this ‘rubbish’ in our lives and so He intends for us to ‘cry to Him’ to remove it’ … Unfortunately (sometimes) even we (Christians) behave like Adam and Eve and ‘run from Him’.
