(Jesus speaking) “… my purpose is not to get your vote, and not to appeal to mere human testimony. I’m speaking to you this way so that you will be saved. (John‬ ‭5:34) The tantrums I’ve had … the dummies I’ve lost by spitting them out and the toys I’ve ruined by throwing them out of my pram when I couldn’t get my own way – when I didn’t get what I wanted! The people who I’ve hurt, and all because I wanted ‘my own way!’ Jesus sensed that his disciples were having a hard time with this and said, “Does this throw you completely? … The Spirit can make life. Sheer muscle and willpower don’t make anything happen. Every word I’ve spoken to you is a Spirit-word, and so it is life-making. But some of you are resisting, refusing to have any part in this.” … “This is why I told you earlier that no one is capable of coming to me on his own. You get to me only as a gift from the Father.” (John‬ ‭6:61) Father, help me to hang on to your Truths, your Love, your Son. X
