The Israelites said, “Rule over us, you and your son and your grandson. You have saved us from Midian’s tyranny.”

Gideon said, “I most certainly will not rule over you, nor will my son. GOD will reign over you.” (Judges 8:22)

As I’ve gotten older in Christ, I easily recognise (in myself), one predominantly obvious ‘sin!’ That of jumping straight into ‘let’s fix it mode,’ instead of asking for help or even recognising that the Holy Spirit not only is ‘with me’ but actually knows exactly what the real problem is.

Dear Holy Spirit, please forgive my independence and help me to acknowledge and trust your loving direction over my life and those you lead me to. Amen. X
