(Jesus speaking) “Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbor’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this whole traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor.” (Mat‬ ‭7:1) Social media throws so many scenarios at us that It’s easy to point the finger and accuse others of ‘crossing the line’ when we ourselves just haven’t been caught yet …! I’ll never forget an old Pastor once saying “It’s easy to be sorry and look for mercy when you see the blue light in your rear view mirror. The best way is to not break the law!” Talk and act like a person expecting to be judged by the Rule that sets us free. For if you refuse to act kindly, you can hardly expect to be treated kindly. Kind mercy wins over harsh judgment every time. (James‬ ‭2:12). X
