(Jesus speaking) “For your heart will always pursue what you value as your treasure.” (Mat 6:21)

Recently I read of a lady who had been burgled. The burglars took some precious private family items which she said were memories from dead family members and could never be replaced. How sad.

This reminded me of a film of an old man sat on his own in a locked vault staring at old art treasures. The scene left me feeling quite sad.

Then I remembered a recent visit to my mother who pulled out a piece of material on which I had written “I love you” when I was about 6 years old. She held this to her heart and with tears in her eyes told me how much this meant to her.

Lord Jesus, open my heart today and show me what I’m valuing as ‘my treasure.’ X
