Day 85/365
Wasn’t our ancestor Abraham “made right with God by works” when he placed his son Isaac on the sacrificial altar? Isn’t it obvious that faith and works are yoked partners, that faith expresses itself in works? That the works are “works of faith”?
The full meaning of “believe” in the Scripture sentence, “Abraham believed God and was set right with God,” includes his action. It’s that mesh of believing and acting that got Abraham named “God’s friend.” Is it not evident that a person is made right with God not by a barren faith but by faith fruitful in works? (James 2:21 MSG).
Friendships are at the height of any relationships. Friendships have expectations which are based upon each party’s ability to open up and interact honestly. Guards get dropped, happy times as well as disappointments are shared, hopes and aspirations laid bare. Hearts are open and trust is established.
The Bible and the Holy Spirit clearly show us enough of GOD’s Heart for us to know that we should – we can – befriend Him and trust Him enough to know the way out of all our messes.
Open up now before GOD, forget all your cleverly prepared arguments and reasons why it’s everyone else’s fault … drop your guard, be honest and talk to GOD like the friend you want him to be to you, and then watch your friendship blossom and grow into Eternal Joy. ❤️
