Day 49/365

“IN THE beginning God … (Genesis‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭AMPC‬‬)

I woke up with this Scripture buzzing through my head at silly o’clock this morning. Then as I asked our Father what He wanted to say, quite suddenly the testimony of a Vicar from Bradford came to my remembrance.

By all accounts he and his twin brother were born to an extremely abusive father. This man was so broken that he took all his pain out on the boys by beating them often.

From what I remember, both boys initially turned to crime, but (finally), one turned back to GOD.

I asked him what made him turn. He told me that one day while he was praying, he had a vision of the room that all this happened in. He saw his brother and himself sobbing and cowering behind the sofa as the door flew open and in came his father with blazing anger in his eyes and heart, and his terrible whip in his white knuckled hand.

He told me that he’d often wondered why he never really felt much physical pain throughout the ordeal and then he saw why. He saw a vision of Jesus come and bend down over him and his brother. Jesus protected the boys from their fathers horrible wrath by offering his own back to the fathers anger.

Haven‘t we all had an ‘in the beginning‘ worth thanking GOD for? ❤️
