“Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we ourselves release forgiveness to those who have wronged us.” (Mat 6:12 TPT)
Anyone who’s older than 5 knows how incredibly difficult it is to just ‘forgive.’ In fact the top recurring theme on TV and in movies is ‘revenge!’
Well our Heavenly Father may be the GOD of Love and Grace, but Jesus quite clearly tells us that He won’t go back on His Word and if we don’t forgive He is quite willing to hand us over to our tormentors (whatever it is that keeps us locked up - mentally, physically, or spiritually), until we see the error of our ways and ‘forgive from our heart.’ “And in wrath his master turned him over to the torturers (jailers) until he paid all that he owed. My heavenly Father will also do the same to [every one of] you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.” (Mat 18:34-35 AMP)
There’s a great part in ‘The Shack’ where Mac is crying and struggling to forgive a man for the terrible wrong he did. GOD simply asks Mac to remove his hands from the mans throat so that He can have him to work with.
We want the person who hurt us to be likewise hurt, but the thing is, forgiveness from the heart is a three-way street, it allows GOD into the situation and then Heaven can witness Him healing both you AND the offender. ❤️
