Day 13/365

“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your failings and shortcomings.” (Mark‬ ‭11:25-26‬ ‭AMPC‬‬)

(For me), the supreme test of whether I’ve actually forgiven someone, is how I feel when someone mentions them or when they walk into the room … if my heart goes GRRR then I’m in trouble!

Oh I can make my lips say I forgive them. I can even pray blessings onto them until my mouth is dry as sand, but as Jesus tells us - unless we let it drop, leave it, let it go, then the barb that’s stuck in my hearts stays put and nothing I’ve said or done counts.

So how …? How do we take the first step in our maturity? Only by dropping our filthy rags pride into the dirt at his feet and (humbly) coming to our awesome Redeemer for help. Only by confessing that we’re so tired of carrying this awful cross and asking (begging) for his forgiveness for it.

THEN, and only then can we truly say with the Psalmist, “Against You, You only, have I sinned and done that which is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified in Your sentence and faultless in Your judgment.“ (Psalm‬ ‭51:4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬) ❤️
